Currently Prof. Cunningham devotes his time to the study and teaching of combat and police jujitsu principles of close quarters battle under the auspices of the WESOMA/Clan Cunningham Ju-Jitsu Academy (CCJJA), which develops close combat training programs for military, police, and special civilian organizations.
The Martial Artist, Warrior, and Soldier
Prof. Cunningham has a passion and predisposition for effective close combat techniques. It was this same passion that has driven him to only study the realities of battle. It was his father that started him in three battles method when he was three years old. He spent his whole life in kempo goshinjitsu in order to walk peaceful always and to fear no situation or person.
In 1984, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman. He joined the U.S. Army to use his skills for the safety and protection of his country. Prof. Cunningham served as a Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol Specialist and Sniper. Serving in these two assignments taught him the importance of finishing violent contact with an aggressor quickly and as efficiently as possible. Prof. Cunningham also excelled at military strategy and tactics with the employment of unarmed and armed close combat principles. With his military combatives experience, military strategy and tactics, Prof. Cunningham blended “truth” together from his father and the military creating his cunninghame ju-jitsu method. He gives credit to his father and heritage for entrusting him with the base he has continued to drill in for all these years.

Three Battles Philosophy
The life of Prof. Cunningham is a mirror for the three battles philosophy as taught in WHITE EAGLE. Three-battles can be seen as the internal conflict between the mind, body, and spirit”. “It is also the external conflict between environment, threat, and self”. It can be seen as the economical continuity between strategy, situation and tactics”. “Three-battles is pure energy in motion because it focuses on the three energy (KI) points; tento (top of the head), hara (upper abdomen), and tanden (lower abdomen).” “Be direct when attacked but avoid violence when possible.” “When confronted with an unavoidable attack of a physical threat, meet it directly, finish it quickly, using the least amount of energy and force necessary for subjugation of the threat's will.” According to WHITE EAGLEthree-battles philosophy, the simplest, easiest and most effective way is the best way. You are not a coward if you avoid violence. To Prof. Cunningham it is this avoidance concept that is the mark of the true warrior, “for humility and honor is  the hallmark of comportment and does not need physical verification of skill”. “When you are faced with a confrontation, be direct when you have no other choice”. “If you hesitate you will only bring harm upon yourself and those you serve”.
Prof. Cunningham believes that the WHITE EAGLE system is the simplest, most practical real-time system of close combat to confront and stop the most violent of encounters. He feels three-battles helps him fulfill his philosophy of ending conflicts quickly by using effective and simple techniques backed with true principles. Why use techniques and principles that are complicated and ineffective? “I don’t”, says Prof. Cunningham.
Training
The WHITE EAGLE philosophy advocates realistic training only! Prof. Cunningham feels that this is one of the most important factors in developing effective close combat techniques. Prof. Cunningham believes that the only way to train in cunninghame ju-jitsu is by practicing with live partners and situations. In his youth, Prof. Cunningham would train himself by adhering to a strict training regiment of at least 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. His training enhanced brutal applications methods and disciplined initiative concepts. These training methods were applied on the body for scientific verification.
Prof. Cunningham Today
Prof. Cunningham has been a professional Close Combat Instructor throughout the United States for the past 31 years and has become widely recognized for his fighting skills among the military and law enforcement communities. His seminars are action packet, full of clarifying pain, and directly address the realities of modern close battle for the professional warrior class. He is the only instructor of the Kempo Goshin-jitsu System that has been authorized by his father, Sr. Prof. Dennis R. Cunningham, to teach Combat, Police, and WEKJ/Cunninghame Ju-Jitsu worldwide. He is the Chief Instructor of the WESOMA/Clan Cunningham Ju-Jitsu Academy. Prof. Cunningham divides his time between his work as a federal law enforcement officer, teaching and training in his combat and police ju-jitsu programs, and in providing forensic hoplology expertise.
