COMBAT JU-JITSU
(Military Only!)

INTRODUCTION

I look at myself as more of a compiler of self-preservation
truths. However, I realize I am the one commenting on the context to what truths I use. Self-preservation, Self-defense, hand-to hand, unarmed combat or whatever pretty words you use to describe battle is not what is important about this program. The gut instincts of the human body to survive no matter what, is more important than all the physical technique that one can learn. And, yes, there are better techniques, than others, but it's not the technique itself that is good or bad, it's the man (I use the term man to mean both male and female gender) and how he employs his tools of battle. This suggests that you have to use your brain to school your body in those techniques that work for you. There is no other way. I firmly believe that there is only one style of combat, that style is you. All the other names are not necessary, however, I also come from a martial art lineage. I have also been in the military as a LRRP (Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol Soldier), Airborne and all that motivating, adrenalin charged HOOWAH! I know the importance of labels and the power they carry. Without a name, it would be hard for people to identify with me, Staff Sergeant Cunningham, Professor Cunningham Tyron Cunningham, We Savage, Jujutsuan, etc. But this program is not about style, names or anything of the sort. It's about pure hand-to-hand combat. The stuff, the Samurai and other soldiers and citizens alike needed to stay alive. I hope you enjoy the program. Learn from it and drive on with it. Also!! If I talk harsh I will apologize now. I will talk strait. No hidden martial art mysteries, just human guts sprinkled with techniques.

There should be no reason to engage in battle with another human being unless you are forced to it. Logic and personal feeling will tell you when you are terminally threatened and the time you must act. But what I will say is that if you are at the point when battle is eminent, then you must follow this line of thought to ensure survival:

The moment that battle is joined. The moment that the   days, the weeks, the months of training have all been leading up to. The moment that seems to stand still, but   is only as long as the split-second pause at the end of a pendulum's swing. Only a split second, but one that holds in its brief passing a thousand thoughts,  a millionfeelings. The moment that battle is joined. My first major battle, but my mind is drilled to precision. The  steel shutter has crashed to the floor; humanity is locked outside beating its fist on the cold, hard surface. No sound, no cry of compassion can penetrate within. I am now ruthless and single-minded. It's a kind of insanity. You have to be insane to survive. It's me or him. At our level, at the sharp end, when the whistle blows, it's not politics, its not heroics or war-games, it's not the big picture of world affairs. It's me or him, it's kill or be killed, it's the quick or the dead, the law of the jungle. Over the top and into no-man's- land. Brutal efficient killing. We don't even kill them. We take them out, we root them out, we blow them away, we pick them off, we eliminate them. We don't really kill them. It's something we block out of our minds           completely. We don't even talk about it among ourselves. The enemy are not human beings. They are everything else-a threat, an attack, a movement in a rifle sight, a running, lunging, shouting, adrenaline-charged shape. But they are not human beings. You don't think of them as real people, as fathers, family men, with a picture of the wife and kids in the back pocket. You can't afford to. It's me or him. They are to be eliminated, it's as simple as that. That is my duty, my role. At this moment, my only concern is to not let my mates down. I am determined not to be a weak link. In the split second that battle is joined, we are together, we are a team, the sum is now greater than the parts. We have fire in our eyes, ice in our veins and metal in our hearts. The highly lubricated precision machine bursts into life. The moment that battle is joined.
(An excerpt from the book He Who Dares:Pocket Books-New York written by Michael Paul Kennedy. 1989.)

I know this thought might be difficult to comprehend. However, if you expect any chance of survival you must be trained to this standard. This program is about this standard. To let the soldier experience what it takes to survive, how to act, react, and exist in this brutal confrontation. How to conserve energy and maximize
your force in order to be severe, quick and efficient in
eliminating the threat. There is no other way. If you wish to have the capability of survival when engaging in battle at close range. This program will teach you about and school you in your chances of survival.
